My first photograph
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 03:09AM It's late and I probably should be sleeping, but I wanted to share with you all my very first photograph taken. Of course I had used a camera to shoot pictures of friends, mostly disposable (cameras, not friends). I never really valued the significance of photography, and I never understood photography as an art form.
(Story continued below the picture)

One morning about 6 or 7 years ago I was in Mrs. Martha Gibson's Drawing II class (I have to give her all the credit on this one), and I was bored. Back then everyone used a point-and-shoot digital camera to capture pictures. Then they drew them. That morning was particularly foggy for Colleyville, Texas and I went outside to get some fresh air and put my mind in "art" mode.
Then I saw this tree. There was something about it. I rushed back to the art department to grab a camera before the fog lifted. I put the tree smack-dab in the middle of the frame. I still remember that click and it makes my heartbeat rise a bit. It's the same feeling when the bride and groom kiss for the first time on their wedding day. It just never gets old.
I wish I had the original copy of the photo, but all I have left is a poor inkjet print. The moment I saw it on the computer screen I was hooked. There was just something I realized in photography that no other art can capture. The gravity of a moment is never understood until you see the photograph.
I realize how lucky I am to still have this picture. I hope my couples have the same realization when they look back at their wedding photos years in the future.
Have a great week everybody!
