Gear Part I: Lenses
Friday, February 6, 2009 at 02:37AM They're lenses. Expensive pieces of glass that make my brides look super awesome. There are a lot of photographers from the [ b ] school reading this so I figured I would answer some general "What's in your camera bag" questions with a post.
Canon 24-70 ƒ2.8L
This is my bread and butter lens, my meat and potatoes, I need it like peas and carrots need each other. Enough with the food metaphors. This lens covers it all and I shoot with it about half the time.

Canon 70-200 ƒ2.8L
This lens is so stealthy. I can stand back during a ceremony and shoot all day without distracting guests. It's quiet, sneaky and telephoto.

Canon 50 ƒ1.2L
If you're a photographer, ƒ1.2 will mean a whole lot. If you aren't a photographer, it means I can shoot in near dark conditions (such as a dark church or reception hall) without using much flash. It also blurs out the background, making busy shots seem calm. I (almost) exclusively shoot engagement sessions with this lens. All of the shots in this blog post were taken with the 50 1.2 except of course this one.

Canon 10-22 ƒ3.5-4.5
Last but not least is the lens I use when wide angle isnt wide enough. This lens is super wide and works best when I need a huge looking shot of a cathedral or outdoor ceremony.
