See you at the altar
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 12:33PM My good friend Vanessa McKellar does these awesome "love story" videos where she interviews her brides and grooms before the wedding about their backstory. It's sort of like the video version of an engagement session. After watching these videos you really feel like you know the couple. Bring the Kleenex.
This is good for two reasons. I usually see a lot of slideshows at weddings. The pictures show the B+G growing up in separate lives, with hardly any photos of the couple actually together. "Oh look, there's Jane's senior Picture. Oh, and there's John smashing cake in his face at his 3rd birthday party." These photos rarely say anything about the couple. The Love Story videos are a great replacement for reception sildeshows.
But maybe more importantly, 90 percent of the guests at your wedding have no idea who the other person is. They saw you grow up, but don't have a clue about your fiance. Sure, your parents and maybe grandparents know him or her, but your great aunts and grade school friends don't. These videos are perfect to intoduce your fiance to your extended family and long lost friends.
