What is it?
WEDGREEN is an industry first attempt to do a little good toward the environment. WEDGREEN is an alternative to the current wedding packages I offer in that it uses natural products which have minimal environmental impact.
Are you still offering non-eco packages?
Of course!
Are you some kind of tree-hugging hippie?
I am neither a tree hugger, Al Gore, or the Crying Indian Guy.
What about quality?
I searched high and low to find the best options for albums around. I finally landed on White Glove Books, a publisher that is exclusively eco-friendly. You'll still get the same high quality photography and albums in the other packages.
How much will it cost?
It will cost more than the basic package, but not a whole lot more. The WEDGREEN package will include a 24 page 13x13 album, bridal portraits, engagment portraits, and of course full wedding coverage. All of this will be $3000. This is only $600 more than the current non-eco package with the same items.
Anything else?
Along with the natural packaging for the CD and eco-friendly album, 10 percent of all sales of WEDGREEN will go to PATH, a charity group in Tyler that serves the economically disadvantaged people in Smith County with both emergency assistance and programs to empower and encourage them to become self-sufficient.
I would rather give my 10 percent donation to a charity other than PATH.
Sure. As long as the charity is within Smith County. I'd like to keep this a local thing.
What vendors are you using?
http://www.loktah.com/ - Natural media packaging
http://www.wgbooks.com/ - Eco friendly albums
batten's photogem labs - Local printing
http://www.tylerpath.org/ - A great organization
I thought you were going to do an electronic transfer of files?
We'll at first I was. However, transferring TONS of photos over the internet is not a very good idea. It's kind of like trying to put out a grass fire with a squirt gun. You'll put it out...eventually. Secondly, many computers aren't designed for that large of a file transfer. Loktah provides a good way to give large files with minimal impact.
Can I get items from other packages and use WEDGREEN products?
No. Lets keep it simple.
What are some other resources for "green" weddings?
A quick google search shows there are a whole lot of brides interested in making their weddings more eco-friendly.
A good place to start would be here: http://www.greatgreenwedding.com/
When is it available?
Now!
Where do I sign up?
Send me an email through the contact form, or call me at 903.253.1848. We'll get you set up.
Why hasn't anyone done this before?
No idea, really.
